1957: Girl Students Strike

Karachi 1957: Dow Medical College Karachi. Girl students went on a hunger strike with the following demands: 1) Better hostel facilities, (2) Better lending library (3) Passing marks should be 50% instead of 60% and other demands. Then Prime Minister of Pakistan Marhoom Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy visited the College and met with the students, reassuring them and requesting them to call off the strike. Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy was a barrister and politician. He served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan from 1956 to 1957 and before that as the Prime Minister of Bengal from 1946 to 1947 in British India.
