Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Billoo — 1959 Aga Khan University confirms that Dr. Billoo obtained his MBBS from Dow Medical College in 1959 and received the Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 2007 for public service.
Dr. S. Adibul Hasan Rizvi — 1960 Dr. Rizvi graduated from Dow Medical College in 1968. His national honors include the Nishan-i-Imtiaz, awarded by the President of Pakistan in 2018.
Dr. Asim Hussain — 1978 The Dr. Ziauddin Hospital’s official biography confirms that Dr. Asim Hussain graduated from Dow Medical College in 1978. He subsequently received the Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 2005 and Nishan-i-Imtiaz in 2013.
Dr. Syed Mohammad Ali Shah — 1970 Dawn confirms that he graduated from Dow Medical College in 1970 and received three Presidential civil awards: Pride of Performance (1996), Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (2003), and Sitara-i-Imtiaz (2009). This is particularly notable because he received three different national awards.
Dr. Farhat Abbas — 1984 Aga Khan University confirms his Dow Medical College graduation in 1984 and lists the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz among his honors. An APPNA/Dow publication specifically states that the President of Pakistan conferred the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz on him for achievements in medicine in 2009.
Dr. Abdul Bari Khan — 1986 He graduated from Dow Medical College in 1986. His Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (2015) and Hilal-i-Imtiaz (2019) are documented.
Dr. Nehal Masood — 1989-2 Aga Khan University confirms that Dr. Masood graduated from Dow University/Dow Medical College in 1989 and received the Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 2013 for contributions to health sciences.
Dr. Shaista Masood Khan — 1972 Aga Khan University confirms her MBBS from Dow Medical College in 1972 and lists Sitara-e-Imtiaz among her honors; the University’s 2013 report confirms that she received it at the President House ceremony that year.
Dr. Mohammad Khurshid — 1967 Aga Khan University confirms his MBBS from Dow Medical College in 1967 and lists the President’s Pride of Performance Award – Government of Pakistan, 2002.
Dr. Rashid/Rasheed Ahmed — 1965 The Dow Days identifies him as a 1965 Dow graduate and records that the President of Pakistan conferred the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz for his services in radiology.
Dr. Nafis Sadik — 1956 She received her medical degree from Dow Medical College and was later awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan. Her Dow education and the national award are independently documented by Columbia University and UN sources.
Dr. Asif Aslam Farrukhi This is an interesting non-clinical example. Farrukhi was educated at Dow Medical College and became a major Urdu/English writer, critic and translator. He received the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz from the Government of Pakistan in 2005, in addition to the Prime Minister’s Literary Award
Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan Awards: Nishan-e-Imtiaz Field / Service: Public Administration & State Service Key Achievements: Longest-serving Governor of Sindh (2002–2016), under whose tenure Dow Medical College was upgraded into the full-fledged Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS).
