Dr. Naheed Sultan, retired Professor of Surgery at Dow Medical College and a Dowite ’79, passed away in Karachi on Sunday, 24th May 2026.

My classmate Dow79. Nahid Sultan, came from a progressive family background, was a strong supporter of NSF during her student days at DMC. Marching alongside the NSF with a red band tied around her head, chanting slogans for revolution, Nahid is no longer with us.
She was a well-mannered, sociable, soft spoken, intelligent, and hard working person. After graduation, she quickly climbed the ladder of success and became an Associate Professor of surgery, working at the same place where giants like Baba Rizvi, Fazl-e-Elahi, and others had worked before her. While working there, Nahid worked very hard and put her all academic efforts for High-Level development of the Department of Surgery, eventually became Professor. Though she is no more among us, but she will be remembered forever by her colleagues Dow79, and also those whose lives she touched.
